Explaining Christianity

It’s difficult to make sense out of life. Christianity does provide excellent help however. We have found the Bible's answer to be the one [out all of the answers] that makes the most sense out of our daily experience. Here are the basics of Christianity:

a. God
Gosd is a loving, eternal being who made, and now governs, the world. Genesis 1, Ephesians 1:11b

There is more to the story. We can see that something has gone wrong with the world God has made. We don’t even have to watch the evening news to know that. We can look into our own hearts and see that something is not quite right.

b. Human beings
The Bible tells us that the first human, Adam, plunged us into this mess we’re in. It is so messy that all of us are by nature and by choice in rebellion against God. See Genesis 3, Romans 5, Romans 3:23. We try to rule in God’s place but we just make a mess of our lives. When we try to take the rule that rightfully belongs to God that’s called sin. What does God do about this rebellion?

When we rebel against God, God’s response is to give us what we desire. Rebellion against God is the same as saying, “God I don’t need or want you.” His judgment is to give rebellious sinners just that. The wages of sin is death and hell. See Romans 6:23; Matthew 25:46

God is just, but there is Good news for those facing his justice:

c. Jesus
Jesus lived God’s rule and yet he was put to death for sin—Not his own sin, but the sin of rebels like us. Jesus took the just wrath we should have received for our rebellion against God. Furthermore, while Jesus died, he did not stay dead. He raised the 3rd day after his death back in the 1st century AD. Be cause he lives we can live too. His death was for us. He died in our place. And the life that he now lives he offers to us.

d. Response
You can respond to this message in 1 of 2 ways. 1) Keep being your own god, ruling your own life. 2) Turn from self to God and trust Jesus’ offer of forgiveness (by the cross) and life (by the Resurrection) See Mark 1:15; John 3:16-18
